How to Check Your Maximum File Upload Size Limit in WordPress?
In WordPress It is very easy to check the maximum file upload limit. To check your maximum file upload limit go to Media » Add New. Here in the bottom you can see your current maximum file upload size.
1: By Changing Theme Functions File
This is the easiest way to increase maximum file upload size. But it works in some cases. Adding the following code in theme’s functions.php file, you can increase the upload size:
@ini_set( ‘upload_max_size’ , ’64M’ );
@ini_set( ‘post_max_size’, ’64M’);
@ini_set( ‘max_execution_time’, ‘300’ );
2: Create or Edit an existing PHP.INI file
In shared hosting you can see php.ini file in your directory if you can’t see this file then create and upload it in the root folder. In that file add the following code:
upload_max_filesize = 64M
post_max_size = 64
Mmax_execution_time = 300
In the case if 64 mb does not work then ad 10MB
3: By Editing Htaccess File
Another method to increase max upload size is too edit the Htaccess File present in your site’s root folder if not present the create this in site’s root folder. And add the following code in this:
php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 64M
php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 300
Again, An important notice if you are on a shared hosting package, then these techniques may not work. In that case, you would have to contact your web hosting provider to increase the limit for you.
